RISE Self-Evaluation

Image
For the RISE Self Evaluation, we take a look back at our time throughout the month and really take into consideration what we learned and how well we did. It's a great way to look critically at your work ethic, your attitude, and your overall learning experience to further expand upon it in the future.

Fictitious Project Revision

Image
Throughout the month we worked with a client brief to produce a website, which was for Reel Deal Tacos. After the initial "launch" we got various feedback from peers and our instructor to then make changes with to produce our final finished project. This activity was meant to showcase our ability to take criticism and feedback and apply it and to overall enhance upon something that we have begun to build skills for. BEFORE AFTER REEL DEAL TACOS REVISED WEBSITE The first major change I made was to the navigation bar and logo. I took the entire website out of the ADI and into the Editor so that I could manipulate the size of the logo even further, really pushing it to a larger size and reshaping and formatting the header. The navigation bar was slightly small, so with the change in the logo, I changed the font and size of the navigation tabs to be easier to use as well. The next major change I made was to the overall pattern of color blocking throughout each pa...

RISE Portfolio Review

Image
This activity was a great way for us to look critically at other portfolios and to provide feedback. It's also a great way to see what others are doing that way we can look back at our own work and make adjustments.

Draft Portfolio Site

My Website! So this activity was taking what we researched and learned from our last activity, and putting it to use! We created our own personal portfolio sites to showcase our experiences, our goals, and ultimately who we are to set ourselves up for our future careers. I'm pretty happy with what I created considering it's all very basic and can change in the future. I think that my color scheme is really nice and although I love it, I do see how it may not be exactly what is best for my image or brand. But overall, I enjoy the look and feel of it right now so I'll continue to sleep on it before making any more big decisions! In the future I definitely see myself utilizing and updating this website, although probably not how most of my instructors would want me to. Considering the field of work I'd like to become involved in, some of the required pages don't necessarily help me to be there, but updating and showcasing my projects and work could make an impact...

Portfolio Inspiration

Portfolio Inspiration Video For today's assignment we were to research and analyze three websites of media professionals within the industry we would like to be a part of. I chose my three favorite authors and wanted to see how they characterized their personal styles and genres as part of their websites. This activity was to really get us thinking about how we want to present ourselves and how we want our sites to be similar or not when we go to create them.

Diigo Exploration

For today's assignment we were to research three articles focused on media, whatever that may be. By researching more on a topic of our choosing, we could learn more about the ways media enhances or hinders ones personal brand or portfolio. By doing this we can learn valuable skills moving forward as we begin to build our own portfolio websites, and start to really build our own brands for our future careers. The first article I chose to take a look at was "27 Things to Put on Your Portfolio When First Starting Out" mainly because I am one of those individuals, who really doesn't see the need for a personal portfolio website considering my desired career. Although I can see how it can be helpful, I really don't see a lot of my audience careening towards that outlet so it's kind of something that I don't focus on. As such, this article gave me a lot to think about!  "Killer Site Design": By simply having something awesome to look at, regardl...

Fictitious Site launch

For this activity, we were to go ahead with our proposals and to create the website for our fictitious client, Reel Deal Tacos. Taking into consideration the sitemaps and wireframes we set up in our proposals, we were to create the website and ensure its functionality, aesthetic, and overall usability. Were you able to meet all the provisions outlined in your proposal? For everything I outlined in my proposal I was able to create it on the WIX platform. I was able to almost replicate my sitemap and wireframes, and I believe that it all works together relatively well. Did you propose or promise something you could not deliver? In my wireframes, I designed the header to look different than what I was actually able to create. I found that WIX wouldn't allow for certain movements or changes to media and design so ultimately I had to stick with something similar. What was the most challenging part of the process for you? The most challenging part of the process was havin...
