Content Management Systems (CMS)

For today's assignment, we were tasked to pick where to host our fictitious client's website. It's important to build a website that is aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly for both the viewer as well as the managers and also a website that has all the features that are wanted and necessary. CMS websites are great assets for any small business, as it completely bypasses the need to know coding or programming.

For my website, I chose to go to WIX for various reasons. It gives the options to work off of predesigned templates or to pick and choose elements basically building the site from scratch. It's easy to manipulate, allows for the transfer of information or sections easily, and allows for tutorials and site management help instantly.

I've played with WIX before, having decided a few months ago that it was the platform I wanted for my own website. Although I have gone ahead and premade a personal portfolio site, there's still so much that can be done to make it better or more unique to myself and my brand. This is also why the experience working with the site has greatly affected my choice for Reel Deal Tacos.

For the theme of the fictitious client site, I chose to use the WIX ADI editor to build the site from scratch rather than from a predesigned template. I was having troubles at first finding something that, although they all looked great, allowed me to really move things around and form it to how I envisioned it to be. So, basically, I have the palette matching the colors of the brand (light and dark blue, white, black), and I hope to continue playing around to try and make it more aesthetically pleasing.

What's so great about WIX is how the programming really allows for redesigning of the same element. Although I'm finding some limitations, I am definitely taking advantage of how much I can change and diversify so that it remains unique and modern.

Throughout my time working on the web, I haven't found too many CMS systems I wouldn't go for. I've been very lucky to have stumbled upon platforms that were easy to use and easy to understand from the get-go, that all provided a neat and clean final product.
